Beniamino Bufano’s Hand of Peace sculpture has been fondly held by the Chang family for over 25 years. The art piece had been residing in Westlake’s Quail Court property for many years before the family removed it for restoration, due to 40 years of exposure to the elements. Rather than returning the sculpture to the property, the Chang family decided to loan the piece to the City of Walnut Creek for the enjoyment of the general public.

After several years of restoration, and with the cooperation and assistance of the city of Walnut Creek, the Hand of Peace now has a spectacular new home in Civic Park for all residents and visitors to enjoy. It continues Bufano’s legacy, his continuing mission for world peace, and his faith in the children of future generations.
