San Jose Hilton Garden Inn Update
November 16, 2018

Exciting times here at Westlake!  Nearly a year ago, we look a leap of faith and decided to leverage the process of modular construction on our new ground up Hilton Garden Inn at our East Gish Road site in San Jose, CA.  We see this as a smart solution to the decreasing labor pool and rising costs that are both industry-wide issues. As a result, we are already seeing lower project costs and better quality control, lending itself to an overall superior end product (for example, sound between rooms and floors is greatly reduced due to the way the modules are stacked on site). In terms of project progress, we have received state approval on the modular unit design, the team conducted a “model room review” in mid-October at the Guerdon plant in Boise, Idaho, and the modular units are now in full production.  Additionally, our “site-built” components (site work, lower level, corridors, and skin of the building) are currently in for permitting. Based on the current milestone schedule, demolition of the existing structure will occur at some point in December, grading of the site will start towards the end of December, and setting the foundation will commence in early 2019.  We anticipate the modular units (fully finished, including furniture, fixtures & equipment) to be delivered in late-spring of 2019, and set by early summer of 2019.
