Software firm OSIsoft has closed a 10-year, 105,000-square-foot lease deal at the San Leandro Tech Campus, kickstarting construction on the 7.5-acre development and the city’s broader effort to become an East Bay technology hub. The Business Times first reported the lease in April.

Construction on the first phase of the 500,000-square-foot campus will start next month, owner and developer Westlake Urban said. The first phase of the project, valued at $70 million, will include a six-story, 132,000-square-foot Class A office building — of which OSIsoft will occupy 85 percent by June 2016 — and an 800-space six-deck parking structure.

“The OSIsoft lease will accelerate the overall development of SLTC and illustrates that tech companies are looking for space in the East Bay and are attracted to the bandwidth and easy access to transit,”Westlake Urban said in a statement.

The campus is being built in multiple phases and features broadband speeds up to 2,000 times faster than the average U.S. Internet connection, the developer said.
